Dr Isabella Garti
AAPEC Committee Member RM BScN MN PhD
Dr Isabella Garti is a Research Fellow at the Molly Wardaguga Institute, Charles Darwin University, and a new general committee member of Australian Action on Preeclampsia. Trained in Ghana and Australia, she holds a PhD in Midwifery, examining the multi-level factors that shape midwives’ management of pre-eclampsia in low- and middle-income countries. This research generates rich insights into how health systems, policies, education, and bedside practice intersect to influence care quality. Her broader portfolio encompasses global maternal health, digital innovation in midwifery education, and strengthening health systems in resource-constrained settings.
Isabella brings deep expertise in context-responsive, equity-focused solutions that are highly relevant to underserved settings in Australia, including rural, remote and First Nations communities. She is passionate about co-design, capacity building and translating evidence into pragmatic strategies that support midwives and multidisciplinary teams to provide safer, more timely care for women at risk of or living with pre-eclampsia.
Isabella is a mum of three who has supported many women experiencing pre-eclampsia throughout her career, and she is excited to continue this journey in partnership with AAPEC.
