BND, PhD Candidate

I am an Accredited Practising Dietitian in Sydney, researcher and PhD candidate at the University of Newcastle. I was first exposed to preeclampsia and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy after my undergraduate studies where I assisted as a dietitian on the Blood Pressure Postpartum (BP2) study. Shortly after, I commenced my PhD. My research focuses on improvements in heart disease prevention for women with a history of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, specifically lifestyle heart disease prevention (e.g., diet and exercise), and health services in the primary care setting. I enjoy using mixed-methods research and engaging end-users (e.g., people with a history of hypertensive pregnancies) through co-design to improve patient outcomes.

I have engaged with AAPEC on many occasions during my PhD to support and promote my research, and I am looking forward to joining the committee in 2023-24, to give back and continue raising awareness of preeclampsia and the need for better support and care.
